Platte, SD – 1/14/2025 – The Platte-Geddes School District announces that it will participate in an Administrative Review (AR) of its School Nutrition Program as required by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the South Dakota Department of Education. This comprehensive review, conducted every five years, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations governing the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and other related programs.
The review will assess all aspects of the district’s school nutrition program, including:
· Meal pattern compliance to ensure students receive nutritious, balanced meals.
· Accurate meal counting and claiming procedures.
· Financial management of the program to confirm appropriate use of federal funds.
· Food safety practices and adherence to health regulations.
· Compliance with professional standards for staff involved in the program.
"The Administrative Review is an opportunity for our district to demonstrate our commitment to providing healthy and nutritious meals to our students while maintaining high operational standards," said Joel Bailey, Superintendent of Platte-Geddes School District. "We welcome the process as it supports our efforts to continually improve our services."
Patrons of the district should note that the review process will include visits to school sites, interviews with staff, and an examination of program records. Feedback from this review will help the district identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth within the school nutrition program.
