The Platte-Geddes School District #11-5 has a vacant school board seat for the 2025-2026 school year. The terms of Roxi Summerville, Tom Olsen, and Dennis DeBoer will expire on June 30, 2025. Summerville and Tony Schrank have filed petitions for two of the three available board seats. However, as no petition was submitted for the third seat, the Platte-Geddes School Board will appoint a board member to serve a one-year term. The district will follow the standard election process to fill the seat for the remaining two years thereafter.
The Platte-Geddes School Board will conduct candidate interviews in April. In addition to participating in an interview, each candidate must complete an application. Individuals interested in serving on the board and who meet the eligibility requirements should contact Superintendent Joel Bailey at (605) 337-3391 or via email at joel.bailey@k12.sd.us. Applications are available at the business office or can be sent via email upon request.
Completed applications must be submitted to the Platte-Geddes Business Office, located at 400 Illinois Ave., no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28.
