Aiden Schoenrock made a "Good News Call" this week! He was nominated by his teacher Mrs. Petersen and our secretary Carol O for his help in keeping our building clean. He noticed that our hallway fills up with leaves that blow in when it is windy. He brought boxes, filled them with leaves, and brought them home to get rid of for us. Aiden made picking up leaves into a fun project with friends on the recess playground. Thank you, Aiden, for helping us keep our building clean! We appreciate your kindness and help!
Alum Tess Ringling also came to school to discuss her educational path, and returning back to Platte to work with Synrgy. Thank you Tess and Mrs. Larson for the great opportunity to hear a former student and the things she does within our community!
Two weeks ago, Mrs. Larson took her Visual Communications class down to Synrgy. It was a great experience for the students to learn about opportunities being creating for future working experiences locally!
For those not making a trip to Watertown today, but still want to support our Cheer and Dance team, here is a schedule of when the team performs today! Good Luck Ladies!

On Wednesday, October 19 we will join schools across the nation in honoring "Unity Day". Unity Day, the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month, has been recognized in the United States since 2011. To participate in Unity Day, individuals, schools, communities, and businesses wear or share orange to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent students being bullied. We will wear ORANGE to celebrate KINDNESS, ACCEPTANCE, and INCLUSION. All students and staff members in grades 1/2K-12 grade are invited to join us in wearing ORANGE.
Izaahk Kruft is sponsoring a "Food Drive" for his Senior Project.
You may send any food items you wish to donate with your students between now and October 24.
Thank you for your generosity and support of this wonderful project.
Thank you,
Jennifer Knecht

On Thursday, October 6th, Mrs. Graves invited four local business leaders to our school to conduct mock interviews with her Ag Leadership students. These individuals include Chris McKinney from Summit Contracting, Cordell Muilenburg from Platte Health Center, Angie Rasmussen from Carlon & Millar, and Colette Mesman from the Platte Area Chamber of Commerce. These seniors developed resumes in Senior Experience Class, and then filled out job applications and wrote cover letters in Ag Leadership. By practicing these career skills, Mrs. Graves hopes that students gain confidence as they pursue the next chapter in their lives after graduation. We are so appreciative of the men and women that took the time to meet with our kids today!

Pippa Veurink was nominated for the “Good News Call” by teachers on the recess playground. She was caught quietly playing basketball, rebounding, and assisting a child in need. Pippa is often observed quietly assisting students in need. She doesn’t draw any attention to herself, but quietly assists students who need someone to play with or a rebounder for their basketball game. Pippa shows extreme patience and kindness to all students. Thank you, Pippa, for being a wonderful example of The Panther Way. You are very deserving of the “Good News Call”.
Kaylee Gallagher was nominated for the “Good News Call” by several of her peers on the recess playground. They noticed that Kaylee had stopped doing an activity because she had noticed that another child was playing alone and needed a friend. She immediately went to the child who was alone, and played with her. When on the playground, it is noticeable that Kaylee is kind to others and treats everyone in a welcoming manner. Thank you Kaylee for being so kind and sweet! You are a wonderful example of The Panther Way! And you are very deserving of the “Good News Call”.
Our very own Liv Houdeshell, Grade 3, sang the National Anthem at the Platte-Geddes Varsity Volleyball Game last night. I repeat, Grade 3! Congratulations on a Fantastic job last night! We are proud of YOU, Liv!
Thank you to Ryan Brumbaugh of the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks for coming in and talking to our 4th graders about "Animals of South Dakota." The kids loved the visit and the information.
