The second graders made a special trip to Geddes yesterday. They presented their community service/PBL project to the Geddes City Council for approval. Three students spoke at the meeting and presented their park project to the council. The Geddes City Council approved the project and thanked our second graders for their work at the Geddes City Park. The students will install garbage can holders at the park with flowers, and plant vegetables in Platte and Geddes.. They will also clean the Geddes City Park and maintain the former park projects. Our second graders are learning about levels of government and how decisions are made in communities, cities, states, and in our country. Thank you second graders for the work in our communities!

We have been enjoying Music In Our Schools Week.... This week we had surprise appearances from......Blake Shelton, The Beach Boys, Garth Brooks, Snoop Dog, and JoJo Siwa. Kelsea Ballerini was here with the guy from "Old Town Road", Toby Mac, and Cody Johnson. There were a couple of Lauren Daigle sightings..... And of course the Koo Koo Kanga Roo Band. We ARE CREATIVE!!
This week we held our annual Kindergarten Screening and Roundup. We screened 36 incoming Kindergarteners for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. It is safe to say, the kiddos are in great hands! Thank you to Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Millar, Mrs. DeVries, Mrs. Allen, and Mrs. Holleman for screening our incoming kiddos!
Gunner Frederick was nominated this week for the "Good News Call" by Mrs. Lisa Millar. Mrs. Millar watched while Gunner quietly helped another student put his ball away when the recess bell rang. Gunner knew the child might not want to put the ball away, so he made it into a game by having him “shoot the ball" into the storage bin”. Gunner told him "Great Job," gave him a high five, and a hug and then said, “Let’s go line up”…..and they lined up together. Thanks for making school great for everyone, Gunner, and for helping others find success in their school day.
We are encouraging all students and staff members to wear blue, yellow, and white tomorrow to show our support for the country of Ukraine. As you may know, we have a student at Platte-Geddes Elementary who is from Ukraine and has many family members currently living in Ukraine. We care deeply about the child and her family, and she is a beloved member of our elementary school.
Therefore, tomorrow we want to show her and her family that we support them. Her mother has told me their extended family is currently doing well and is not near the violence. However, I do have a couple of links that the family shared with me that they support and trust if you wish to also support Ukraine. Please let me know and I will share them with you. Blessings, Jennifer
Landry Hanson was nominated for the “Good News Call” by her classroom teacher, Mrs. Darcie DuFrain, for being a great helper in the classroom. She notices what needs to be done and is always offering to help her teacher. Landry wipes tables, cleans up scraps from the floor, and is always in a good mood! She is simply a JOY to have around the classroom! And, our Shout Out for the month of March is Positive Attitude! Landry is a fine example of a helping hand with a positive attitude. Thank you, Landry, for being an AWESOME kiddo!
