Platte -Geddes musicians received some fabulous news from Elementary Honors Choir yesterday. PG had 16 students chosen out of 500 plus auditions from all over the state. Here are the names:

All students in grades K-5 attended the SURF (Sanford Underground Research Facility) presentation yesterday held at Platte-Geddes Elementary. Students learned about the experiments taking place one mile underground in the former Homestake Gold Mine. Students in grades 4 and 5 participated in a hands-on science experiment. The presentations were fantastic!

An adjustment has been made to the previous changes on the 2023-2024 school calendar. Platte-Geddes will have school on December 21 and 22, but school will dismiss at noon on the 22nd.

Boston Severson was nominated for the “Good News Call” today for picking up trash around the playground. Mrs. Kok noticed that Boston gave up his entire morning recess to pick up trash that others had thrown on the playground. Thank you, Boston, for noticing the trash and picking it up. FYI for all parents.....The Platte-Geddes Christmas Concerts will be held on the following dates: Elementary Christmas Concert for K-4th Grade will be held on Friday, December 1 @ 6:30 pm. The 5-12 Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 7 @ 7:00. And, Cody Fite is sponsoring a special "Tuba Christmas with Cody" on Saturday, December 2. The Tuba Christmas is Cody's Senior Project. See the flyer attached for the three concert performances!
The Good News Call today is going out to Oaklyn Petersen. Oaklyn has been observed to be a very good friend to others. She is observed to be kind, considerate, thoughtful, and caring to every person she meets throughout her school day. She takes time to include all students at recess and seeks out kids to play with that are by themselves. Oaklyn is truly KIND to everyone at school, every single day!

The Good News Call on Thursday went out to Braxton Sohler. Braxton was nominated for the Good News Call by his classroom teacher, Mrs. Neuman. Mrs. Neuman noticed that Braxton saw her bookshelf was unorganized and he took it upon himself to re-organize the entire bookshelf. He took every book off the shelf and replaced them neatly back on the shelf. Thank you, Braxton, for being a WONDERFUL help in the classroom! Keep up the great work kiddo!!
The Elementary Student Council presented Carol Oberbroekling with a check for $5073.00 for use toward Denny's medical expenses. The money was raised through the "Baked Potato Supper" and the "Candy Corn Contest" Fundraisers. Thank you for the generosity and kindness shown toward Carol and Denny.
